The Le Moulin Morin is situated beside the river Drome and enjoys an attractive valley setting. It is only 1.5 Km from the centre of Bayeux. The local ferry port of Ouistreham (Caen) is just forty minutes away (Cherbourg one hour, Le Havre 90 minutes and Calais about 3 hours). There is no need to waste time searching for an elusive “Gite” or “Chambre d’hote” as our property is very easy to find even when arriving at night.
Restored and furnished to a high standard, the 13th century watermill and riverside apartments offer clean and comfortable accommodation. We are open throughout the year and the English owners are available on-site to give help and advice. Seven acres including a cider orchard are entirely at your disposal for picnics, BBQ’s, fishing or just taking it easy on the riverbanks.
Garden furniture, deck chairs, hammocks and BBQ sets are supplied. Trout, Perch and Pike are found in the Drome and lovers of nature will enjoy spotting close at hand the varied wildlife of the region. Heron, Barn Owls, Kingfishers and Moorhens have made their home in our grounds.
During the summer months, (mid June through to the first week in September), clients may use our private outdoor swimming pool. The pool is heated (with the exception of during periods of adverse weather). For children there is an adventure play area with swings and a climbing frame. Local amenities include some excellent restaurants, hypermarkets, a heated municipal swimming pool, tennis courts and a very good 27 hole golf course 7 kms away at Port En Bessin (Omaha Beach Club). All rentals include heating, electricity & gas. Bed linen is supplied and there is one cot and highchair in each apartment. Please note that you will need to bring your own cot linen and blankets. Supplements apply to the supply of logs (Mill House only) and the conversion of the living room of Kingfisher to a group dining area. Please refer to the page on rentals for details. Clients should bring their own personal towels and tea towels. However, for groups travelling to France by air we can arrange for towels to be hired. We regret that we do not accept pets.
